September 2, 2013-Needle Report

If I’m being truthful, I still have 4 pairs of socks on the needles. Not all are active. I love the Cadence socks, but….uggh. It is the second time I have attempted to knit these socks. They are a bit tight. Not sure at this time if I am frogging these or will pick them up later. Second sock I am ripping back out the toes, heels and cuff. This is not such an issue. I am almost done and will post them when done. I just have one toe to finish up. The third pair just needs a heel put in and those will be complete. The fourth pair was a diversion of the other three. I am just past the afterthought heel. I hope to have these finished by the week’s end (minus of course the Cadence).

I needed a break from socks so to complicate the matter further, I cast on the Dryad Scarf by Brooklyn Tweed. Gorgeous cables that look complicated but are not so much. Just cabling on every right side row, with a total of 60 stitches.

Here is where I am

Here is where I want to be. Right now scarf if measuring out at a pee wee length of 11″. Gotta ways to go.

Also, I have yet another languishing scarf. This is the Guernsey Wrap, another Brooklyn Tweed Scarf. I started this sometime last spring and knit on it until the heat became unbearable. I am knitting with Paton’s Yarn. I used only coupons to buy the yarn. This was a bargain. The yarn is a bit rustic I know, but that is how I saw this scarf to be. I am half way done now. A really easy and repetitive knit. Relaxing. My picture appears a bit bluish, but it is really a beautiful granite grey.

Here is what it will be (fingers crossed) when it is done.

This sock is the  Cadence Socks by Very Busy Monkey.  A pretty easy knit with dramatic results.  I am using my Platinum Sock Yarn by Wool2Dye 4 dyed in Jaquard Pink.

Needle Tip-

When dividing stitches to begin the heel flap, when the patter says turn back and S1 and knit 31 stitches, don’t start next round and S1 and purl back!  Read and follow the damned pattern already.  Ugh.  I know how to do a heel flap.

Upcoming Stash Report-

This new yarn line is supposed to go live sometime early next week from SSYC.  A finger weight sock that looks promising.  The color orange with any worth while depth is something that is lacking in the dyer world for some reason.  I am interested to see the details when it gets up in the store front.

Planning on spending the day knitting and sipping coffee.  Sounds like a perfect day.

Postscript

IMG_0786These fuckers were in time out  for awhile.  The heels, cuff and toe will be ripped out and re-knit.  Lucky me.  My inexperience at the time led to not quite right construction.  Deep breath…I can do this.

Stash Report

I was bad….very bad.

Yesterday early morning, I grabbed my cuppa coffee and headed out over to Plymouth to Michigan Custom Boutique to look at some needles. Got within 5 minutes of the store and while at a traffic light reached my hand into my handbag to grab my wallet, and ughh! No wallet. Shit! Pulled over to a parking lot to simmer my raging nerves for 2 minutes and then turned my stupid ass around, got back on the freeway and headed back home to retrieve wallet. I drove the 30 minutes back home to find that said fucking wallet was nowhere to be found. A lightbulb moment took me back out to my car to search. Yup…wallet was sitting on the floor of the back driver’s side. Several cursing moments….I got back in the car and headed back out and drove 80mph back to yarn shop. They are usually heavily stocked, but today they had every needle I didn’t need. Resisted the urge to stop at a bar and drink heavily, and drove back over to my side of town. Second planned stop was PK YarnOver in Clawson. Payday! Found the Chiagoo needles I was looking for. Found yarn I wasn’t looking for! 30 percent off everything in the store. Pulled the trigger on these lovelies. 2 skeins of DIC Everlasting in vibrant colors of purple and cobalt. A few skeins of black yarn for heels and toes for my stripey socks. Headed back home to nap. Not a bad day after all.
